American Board Assembly, Inc., a Moorpark, California electronic manufacturing company, today
announced it has earned ISO 9001:2000 Registration from Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL).
The ISO 9000 series Standards are internationally recognized quality management system
requirements developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO 9001,
the most comprehensive Standard in the ISO 9000 series covers design, manufacturing,
installation and servicing systems.
"Internal improvement, market positioning, supplier control and customer or regulatory
requirements are all sound reasons to seek quality system registration, and American Board
Assembly, Inc. chose this path," says Gus Schaefer, chief engineer, Follow-Up Services.
"Accepted by more than 90 countries around the world as a quality assurance benchmark, American
Board Assembly, Inc.'s ISO Registration has demonstrated its commitment to continuous process
improvement," Mr. Schaefer adds.
American Board Assembly, Inc. began the process in 2001. As part of the process, UL performed
an on-site assessment, examination of documented procedures and a survey of the company's
overall operations. To determine continued compliance with ISO 9001, UL will periodically
conduct routine surveillance audits of the operation.
"Preparing for the registration process and earning registration have helped to improve the
quality of our operations, increase our efficiency and decrease the costs to provide our
services," says Cindy Kelly, Vice President and General Manager. "We're very pleased to have
earned registration and are very proud of every employee who worked to meet the requirements
necessary for registration."
